A Distinguished Jurist, Mentor, Role modeland Cherished Friend

Justice Majanja's untimely passing on  10 July 2024, at the age of 51, leaves an indelible  void. It is almost inconceivable that  he is no longer among us, yet we remain  forever grateful for the time he shared  with us and the indelible mark he left on  our community. He was a devoted friend to many, a mentor,  a father, a husband, a patriot, a cherished  oracle of the law, and a historic figure who  served on the Kenyan bench during the  significant period following the enactment of  the 2010 Constitution. His empathy in legal decision-making is  only matched by his respect for justice. He  was alive to the fact that the law is a tool  for ordering lives and it should be alive  to the lived experiences of the people and  should not be blind to the effects it leaves  on the lives of the people. For example,   his decision in the petition challenging  the constitutionality of the housing levy  brings out his empathetic rulings.
